Day 1: Check-in

The starting point is the port city of Nieuwpoort located between the Flemish Coast and the English Channel. Going around the city center by bicycle you can admire the whole splendid port area. Don't miss the King Albert Memorial where you will be fascinated by the panoramic view. When you set sail you can decide whether to go west to Veurne and Duinkerhen on the border with France, south towards Diksmuide and Ieper (Ypres) or east towards Brugge and Gent.

Day 2

Today, following the course of the Ijzer river, you will discover the places where the Great War took place. North of Diksmuide, along the river you will find the memorial site of Dodengang where you will walk among the trenches that saw the Anglo-Belgian army clash against the German one. In the area there is a monumental Memorial and a museum that tells the story of the terrible battle. Of course, you can also have fun in Diksmuide by eating and drinking at the city's best-known brewery: De Dolle Brouwery, where you will surely appreciate its craft beer and chocolate.

Day 3

On the third day you will arrive in Ieper, the most important city in West Flanders, in fact it is an important medieval center for the production of high quality fabrics. Known as the City of Four Battles because during the five-year war Ieper was the battlefield of four violent clashes. In Ieper, you cannot miss the lively Market Square, the Menin Gate Memorial and the Flanders Field Museum.

Day 4

The journey will continue crossing the Nieuwpoort-Plassendale Canal to dock at Plassendalebrug and reach Oostende, a large city by the sea, by bike. You can admire numerous monuments, such as the ancient stronghold built by Napoleon. Do not miss the opportunity to go to the shops to buy traditional chocolate.

Day 5

The next stop on your navigation is Brugge, a city rich in history and culture, to be visited on foot, by carriage or by boat along the canal. In Brugge you can see medieval architecture and a multitude of interesting museums such as the Groeninge museum for art lovers, the folklore museum and the chocolate museum.

Day 6

Today the navigation continues on the Ghent-Oostende canal which, after a beautiful view of villas, gardens, meadows and pastures, will lead you directly to Ghent. You cannot miss the many important historical monuments and buildings such as the marvelous Cathedral of San Bavo, the Flemish houses of the Guilds along the shore, the Castle of the Counts of Flanders and many others.

Day 7

We recommend a stop in Deinze, a small town where you can relax in the Brielmeersen park which offers beautiful trails, a large children's playground, mini golf and a giant bamboo maze. Do not miss a visit to the elegant and majestic Ooidonk Castle, one of the most beautiful in Europe.
